How to Brush Your Child’s Teeth
The parents will need to brush the child’s teeth till about 6 years old. By age 6 or 7, the children should be able to do that by themselves. Here are some tips for proper brushing.
- The ADA recommends a pea-sized drop of tooth paste for children with age 2-6. For children under 2, use only water unless your pediatric dentist recommends toothpaste instead.
- Place the tooth brush against the gums.
- Move the brush back and forth in short strokes gently. Brush the outer surfaces of each tooth, upper and lower. Repeat the same for inside surfaces and chewing surfaces.
- Finish by brushing the tongue to help freshen breath and remove bacteria.
